Philosophy of Practice
Thompson & Associates has found that clients are interested in more than whether their professional advisors are technically proficient. While we offer the expertise of a Big Four accountant in a small firm environment, we also strive to set ourselves apart from other firms through prompt, courteous and accurate service. Thompson & Associates participates in the peer review program outlined by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Our firm operates in accordance with the following “Code of Conduct”:
- Be responsive to our clients. Many accountants fail to return their clients phone calls promptly, especially during "busy" season. We return client calls and inquiries within one business day and the same day, whenever possible.
- Be dependable. Many accountants set unrealistic deadlines and make commitments they can't possibly keep. We are careful to give clients realistic estimates for completion of their work and delivery in a timely fashion.
- Keep clients informed of the status of their projects. We update our clients frequently and inform clients before a project deadline if the deadline needs to be revised.
- Value our clients' time. We schedule our workday to provide flexibility in the event clients are late or need additional time. We prepare for meetings in advance so we can give clients our full attention.
- Support the overall business strategy of our clients. Many professionals want to sell a "canned" solution to problems without investigating their full impact on a client's business. We take the time to understand the subtleties of our clients' business and devise appropriate strategies specific to their business needs.
- Educate our clients. We believe clients get more value from their professional services if they understand their options and the ensuing ramifications. Many accountant's simply give their clients the answer. We educate our clients to give them a layman's understanding of their alternatives, ensuring they are knowledgeable of the consequences.
